For many years I have lived and traveled in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Borneo, Sarawak, Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Laos, Nepal, India, Shri Lanka, Canada, North America, Central America, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Holland, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Sicily, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, North Africa, Australia and New Zealand together with the great fortune to have visited a few of the islands in between including Gibraltar, Hawaii, Guam, Penang, Paula Tiomen, Langkawi, & Easter Island.

I have also been very privileged in my life to have sailed the mighty Pacific, the great Atlantic, Indian and the formidable Southern Oceans, the Bay of Biscay, the South China, the German and Irish Seas, the Pentland Firth, the Malacca Straits, the Great Australian Bight and transited both the Panama and Suez Canals. I have also been privileged to fly many times around the world on various countries’ airlines and otherwise by bus, jeep, car, lorry, motor cycle, tractor, rickshaw, horse and bicycle & where roads, tracks & paths were not possible with wheels, by foot.

Many of the people I met, spent time with and listened to during my travels, I found to have a common gratitude nurturing within their hearts and, like me, were (and hopefully still are) learning to appreciate what they have rather than what they don’t have & I could not have survived many of these journeys without them & without one person in particular who still inspires me towards the human qualities I hold so dear.

So this in part, is dedicated to all of those people, rich, poor, young, old, literate, illiterate, wise and stupid who share with me this beautiful jewel upon which we live, our only home, a place we call our planet Earth.
